How data gets to DATEV

Two routes — you choose.

The file route works immediately and without a DATEV contract. The direct connection unlocks the full scope once you connect your DATEV account.

Route 1 · from day one

File route (EXTF)

For every workspace, no contract with DATEV. Your tax firm imports the file into DATEV Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen.

  1. Upload a receipt or attach it in the chat — PDF, image, email attachment.
  2. Claude extracts amount, VAT rate, supplier, date and proposes the account assignment (SKR03/SKR04).
  3. You review the booking record and confirm.
  4. Export the EXTF Buchungsstapel — ready for import.

Route 2 · with your DATEV account

Direct connection

You link your own DATEV login (OAuth, DATEV Nuremberg) in the dashboard under Integrations. From then on the chat works with your DATEV data directly — no files in between.

  1. Order the Datenservice in MyDATEV — once, on your side.
  2. Connect your DATEV account — one click, your login, no third-party server.
  3. Pick a client — by name, Beraternummer or Mandantennummer.
  4. Go — bookkeeping, receipts, payroll, taxes, cash register. E-invoices (TRAFFIQX) use a second, separate DATEV sign-in under Integrations.

Master-data lookups (client master records) are metered per call by DATEV with no free allowance; this area is not enabled in production yet. A deadline radar proposes dates found in your documents; every deadline is confirmed by you.

Deadline radar with confirmation

Dates found in documents are proposed as deadlines; you confirm or dismiss. Confirmed means: a Google Calendar event (if connected), a confirmation email with due date and Vorfrist, an audit entry — there is currently no separate reminder shortly before the date. It does not replace your firm's official deadline register.

Skills for the handover

GoBD receipt check, DATEV handover and invoice classification come preconfigured for workspaces onboarded as "Tax advisory" — Claude knows the procedure, you write no prompt. Receipt extraction and the EXTF export work in every workspace.

100% EU — and your own login

DATEV in Nuremberg, ClapNClaw in your isolated environment in Frankfurt. The connection runs through your own DATEV account, no third-party server. DPA under Art. 28 GDPR and §203 supplementary agreement from day one.

Receipt extraction, booking records and EXTF export are part of every plan. DATEV data retrieval over the direct connection is enabled per client — the price is on screen before you confirm.

€99 / client / year

Net, per Bestand (Beraternummer + Mandantennummer), on top of the per-user price. Included at no cost until 31 Dec 2026, billed from 1 Jan 2027. Activated explicitly by an admin.

Requirement on DATEV's side

Datenservice in MyDATEV

Ordered once: tax firms via the Bestell- und Einrichtungsassistent, companies via the Mandantenregistrierung. Without the order, DATEV serves no data.

Data depth

5 fiscal years

DATEV serves at most the last five closed fiscal years per Bestand — DATEV's limit, not ClapNClaw's.

Do I need a DATEV contract to use ClapNClaw?

No. The file route — upload a receipt, review the booking record, export an EXTF Buchungsstapel — works in every workspace from day one without a DATEV contract. For the direct connection you link your own DATEV account and order the Datenservice in MyDATEV.

When does the direct connection to DATEV work?

Once you connect your DATEV account in the dashboard and the Datenservice is ordered in MyDATEV, the chat works with your DATEV data directly: clients, bookings, receipts, payroll, taxes, cash register. E-invoices (TRAFFIQX) are linked separately under Integrations, because DATEV uses its own sign-in service for them. Until then, the file route is available. Does the AI post to DATEV on its own?

No. The AI extracts and proposes — booking record, account assignment, upload. Every transfer is triggered by you in the chat. Nothing reaches DATEV without your action.

Which charts of accounts are supported?

SKR03 and SKR04. The account assignment is derived from the receipt and confirmed by you; the export is an EXTF Buchungsstapel for DATEV Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen.

Where is the DATEV data processed?

Exclusively in the EU: ClapNClaw in your isolated environment on Hetzner Frankfurt, DATEV in Nuremberg, AI inference via AWS Bedrock eu-central-1. No third-party servers, no US transfer, no training on your data.
