How data gets to DATEV

Two routes — one in the beta, one planned.

The DATEV export as an EXTF file is part of the beta on every plan — without a DATEV contract and without connecting to DATEV; any member triggers it in the chat and exports only the documents they have access to. The direct connection (OAuth) is planned for Q1 2027 and cannot be used yet; DATEV grants the release for production.

Route 1 · part of the beta

File route (EXTF)

Works without a contract with DATEV and without connecting to DATEV. Your tax firm imports the file into DATEV Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen.

  1. Upload a receipt or attach it in the chat — PDF, image, email attachment.
  2. Claude extracts amount, VAT rate, supplier, date and proposes the account assignment (SKR03/SKR04).
  3. You review the booking record and confirm.
  4. Export the EXTF Buchungsstapel — the chat gives you a summary and a download link; you hand the file to your firm for import.

Route 2 · planned for Q1 2027

Direct connection

Not available yet. This is how it is meant to work once DATEV has enabled the integration for production: you link your own DATEV login (OAuth, DATEV Nuremberg) in the dashboard under Integrations; from then on the chat works with your DATEV data directly — no files in between.

  1. Order the Datenservice in MyDATEV — once, on your side (can already be prepared). Every Datenservice must be ordered from and enabled by DATEV: go.datev.de/datenservices-einrichten.
  2. Connect your DATEV account (planned) — your own DATEV login.
  3. Pick a client — by name, Beraternummer or Mandantennummer.
  4. Go (planned) — bookkeeping, receipts, payroll, taxes, cash register. E-invoices (TRAFFIQX) use a second, separate DATEV sign-in under Integrations.

Setup, per Datenservice: Buchungsdatenservice, Rechnungsdatenservice and Datenservice Export Rechnungswesen for bookkeeping, Belegbilderservice Rechnungswesen for receipts, Lohnauswertungsdatenservice, Lohnergebnisdatenservice, Lohnaustauschdatenservice (incl. eAU) and Lohnimportdatenservice for payroll, and Belegbilderservice Steuern for Meine Steuern — each one is ordered and set up separately in MyDATEV before the direct connection can serve data for it. DATEV publishes official setup guides at go.datev.de/datenservices-einrichten.

Master-data lookups (client master records) are metered per call by DATEV with no free allowance; this area is not enabled in production yet, like the direct connection as a whole. A deadline radar proposes dates found in your documents; every deadline is confirmed by you.

Every export is triggered by you in the chat — Claude proposes, you give the instruction. Nothing reaches DATEV without your action; the same will apply to the future direct connection.

Deadline radar with confirmation

Dates found in documents are proposed as deadlines; you confirm or dismiss. Confirmed means: a Google Calendar event (if connected), a confirmation email with due date and Vorfrist, an audit entry — there is currently no separate reminder shortly before the date. It does not replace your firm's official deadline register.

Skills for the handover

GoBD receipt check, DATEV handover and invoice classification come preconfigured for workspaces onboarded as "Tax advisory" — Claude knows the procedure, you write no prompt. Receipt extraction works in every workspace; the DATEV export as an EXTF file is part of the beta.

Data in Germany — and your own login

DATEV in Nuremberg, ClapNClaw in your isolated environment on servers in Germany. The planned direct connection runs through your own DATEV account. DPA under Art. 28 GDPR from day one; the §203 StGB supplementary agreement is included in the Compliance plan from day one.

Ordered once: tax firms via the Bestell- und Einrichtungsassistent, companies via the Mandantenregistrierung. Without the order, DATEV serves no data. Setup per Datenservice: go.datev.de/datenservices-einrichten.

The direct connection (OAuth) is planned for Q1 2027 and cannot be used yet; DATEV grants the release for production. Later, the direct connection will also require a Datenservice ordered in MyDATEV.

When does the direct connection to DATEV work?

Planned for Q1 2027: the full DATEV integration (direct connection via OAuth) is in development — DATEV grants the release for production, so the date is a plan, not a guarantee. The file route is already part of the beta: the chat summarises the extracted receipts and gives you a download link for the EXTF file, which your firm imports into DATEV Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen. Planned for the direct connection: clients, bookings, receipts, payroll, taxes, cash register; e-invoices (TRAFFIQX) with a separate sign-in. Questions about your specific setup: [email protected].

Does the AI post to DATEV on its own?

No. The AI extracts and proposes — booking record, account assignment, export. You trigger the export yourself in the chat and you pass the EXTF file on yourself; the same will apply to the future direct connection. Nothing reaches DATEV without your action.

Which charts of accounts are supported?

SKR03 and SKR04. The account assignment is derived from the receipt and confirmed by you; the export is an EXTF Buchungsstapel for DATEV Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen.

Where is the DATEV data processed?

In the EU: ClapNClaw in your isolated environment at Hetzner in Germany, DATEV in Nuremberg, AI inference via AWS Bedrock eu-central-1; a residual US CLOUD Act risk is disclosed transparently. No training on your data.
